The three simple techniques can keep your members subscribed for a longer time, increase their loyalty, your brand recognition and ultimately double or quadrapule your profits.

#1.) Announce upcoming content and bonuses
If you have a membership website, then surely you must have planned your content. And if you are using a blog then perhaps you have already scheduled your posts inside the member’s area.

So, why not announce this “upcoming” content or bonuses to your current members. It will keep them intererested. And if you give a slight hint or a demo or a review of what is coming, your members will feel the excitement. Remember, “anticipation” is a very powerful thing in marketing. Use it wisely and see your profits shooting high.

#2.) Increase “quality” of your content

Now, you must have heard this advice a zillion times that – provide relevant and quality content and members will stick to you membership website. And somewhere in your unconscious mind a voice is shouting – “it is not easy”.

Indeed, “It Is Easy!”. Here is a simple exercise. Ask your members, ask their feedback, run a survey for them, and ask them to
a.) what kind of content they want and
b.) if they think the current content can be valued.

It will do two things – i.) it will instantly tell you what kind of content will keep your members glued to your website and ii.) members will feel valued and cared for and hence they will feel a kind of attachment with your membership website. A territory where most of your competitors haven’t reached yet ! And thus separating you from your competion.

#3. Do not poke them unnecessarily to cancel

Having a fair business practice is very important, it is ethical and you should always conform to this rule.

But that does not mean that at the end of every billing cycle, you send them a reminder to cancel their membership.

Remember, when someone joined to your membership website, the membership plan was clearly noted at the signup page. They got its details from the payment gateway too. Therefore, they were already aware and agreed to the payment plan. Now, if you just send a reminder at the end of every month and give them an option to cancel the membership, it will trigger an unconscious action in most member’s brain and they will hit the cancel button. It is an interesting psychology but its true.

Of course, if a member wants to cancel the membership, he will contact at your support desk and then you have a chance to try to save that sale by listening and if possible fixing the problem or concern that the member has.

So, now, just re-read the above-three points, do as above-mentioned and increase your “members retention rate”. Its simple and takes less effort, you just need to take your first step, then next and then next till you see bulging profits.

Membership websites can have different pricing models but from my experience I can tell you that more than 95% of membership websites offer its clients a recurring subscription rather than a one-time payment.

Compare membership websites with one-time sell products: In a typical one-time sell products, each time a sale is closed, your business needs to find another client in order to keep it going. But in a membership website model, once you find a client, he brings in revenue to your business multiple times. It is called a recurring income and that makes it a better business model than the one-time sell products.
